The next building block: SAT.IO joins tenics
We’re expanding our portfolio: with SAT.IO, tenics gains a powerful partner for Mission Control. This closes a key gap between flight and ground software. For our customers, this creates a seamless offering across the entire space value chain, from mission to ground control.
NewSpace Tech meets Heritage
Over the past years, tenics has established itself as a reliable partner for demanding space missions, bringing deep technical know-how and years of experience operating complex space software. With SAT.IO, specialized, modern Mission Control technology now joins the fold.
“For us, this isn’t about a single building block, but about consistently advancing our offering for our customers,” explains our founder and CEO, Dirk. “SAT.IO fits perfectly with our philosophy: combining experience-based space expertise with specialized, modern solutions — Mission Control tech meets space heritage.”
For users of tenics software, this means fewer interfaces, more integration, and an offering that spans missions end to end, from flight to ground control. With this, tenics is systematically continuing to build out its software infrastructure for European space.
Team grows
The expansion also grows the team: tenics now employs more than 20 people and will soon be strengthened by two software developers from SAT.IO. They bring their Mission Control know-how directly into the company and become part of the team.
“Mission Control tech meets space heritage also means, for us, people meeting people,” explains Dirk. “With this additional team power, we bring comprehensive know-how for mission success.”
About SAT.IO’s roots
SAT.IO was founded as a spin-off of the Institute of Space Systems (IRS) at the University of Stuttgart. Research into scalable, multi-mission-capable operating systems for satellites gave rise to the idea for an independent company that would translate this know-how into a cloud-native Mission Control platform. This academic origin still shapes SAT.IO today: a solid scientific foundation paired with the ambition to make satellite operations simpler and more reliable for missions of any scale and any orbit.
